In this series, ceramic artist Lilly Maetzig expands her functional practice into an exploration and celebration of joy, sensuality, and feminine abundance. These vessels draw from the language of intricately iced desserts to evoke the tactile pleasures of making and the opulence of excess. 
Maetzig transforms the familiar form of the vase into an object of indulgence and play. Each piece revels in its own adornment: glazes run like syrup, forms swell and curve, piped textures invite touch. The work blurs the boundary between utility and ornament, embracing decoration as a gesture of pleasure and power. The vessels become offerings of joy, sensuality, and self-expression, proposing that beauty and excess can themselves be radical acts of celebration. 
 
Wheel-thrown from stoneware, terracotta, and porcelain, these vessels merge domestic form with decorative excess. Maetzig pipes slip onto the surface using cake-icing techniques, creating textured layers. Some are coated in glossy, dripping glaze, while others remain raw, glazed only within. In a restrained palette of whites, creams, and warm red-browns, the pieces balance sensuality and structure, transforming the vessel into a site of ornamentation and joy.
